
Meal Break Deployment – Update from GMB EMAS
GMB EMAS has successfully challenged the recent changes to meal break deployment. EMAS will now revert to the previous system and work with unions to develop a more balanced, staff-friendly approach that ensures breaks are fair and within appropriate timeframes.

GMB Congress has backed a motion from GMB@EMAS calling for stronger protections for disabled workers seeking reasonable adjustments, including fairer access to flexible working and updated employer guidance.

Freedom to Speak Up: Creating Safer, Stronger Ambulance Services
A recent FTSU update showed high reporting levels in SECAMB and raised concerns about bullying, safety, and inappropriate behaviours. Sexual safety issues were notably higher in ambulance services. WMAS saw the most anonymous reports. GMB also highlighted risks of PTS privatisation, ongoing NQP concerns, and upcoming retirement talks. A new collaborative agreement will soon be shared with members.
