GMB EMAS Escalating Industrial Action

Published 23rd February 2023 by GMB EMAS

The lack of engagement from the Government continues and it seems clear that Ministers have no intention of recognising the true value of the entire NHS workforce. It’s a disgrace and will do nothing to end GMB’s NHS and Ambulance strikes.

GMB@EMAS are therefore escalating our actions:

Strike Day 6th March

Derogations will remain the same, however GMB@EMAS and GMB National Ambulance Committee recommend that Members either choose to go on full strike or respond to CAT 1 calls only.

Strike Day 20th March

The exemption for members to respond to certain CAT 2 calls will be removed (Option 4).

Members voted to take industrial action and your support has been amazing. We now need to raise our voice and have a bigger impact.

We appreciate the financial implications of taking part in Industrial Action. But the result of doing nothing is greater:

We have been provided wage slip evidence for a Paramedic at the top of their pay band –  they were taking home £26 per month more in April 2022 than they were 11 years before! (after tax and pension contributions).
