The GMB is now moving to a formal Industrial Action (Strike) ballot regarding the Rota Review/Consultation.
On 19 February, we formally requested that EMAS agree to the following:
⚠️ We Asked For:
1. An immediate and complete pause (minimum 12 months) on the Rota Review/Consultation
- During this time, negotiations would continue in good faith.
- A return to Status Quo arrangements, including:
- Existing rotas remaining in place
- Existing protocols for TOIL, Annual Leave, shift swaps, line allocation, etc.
2. An immediate halt to any plans to reduce the FRV model
3. A pause on all key principles linked to the proposed changes
Unfortunately, EMAS has not agreed to these reasonable requests and has appeared disingenuous throughout negotiations.
GMB members have made it absolutely clear that they are prepared to take Industrial Action if the issues surrounding the rota consultation are not resolved.
As a result, you will shortly receive a formal ballot paper by post.
📣 The Aim of Industrial Action
The aim of any Industrial Action will be to secure agreement from EMAS to the original terms set out by GMB on 19 February.
Voting in support of Industrial Action will suggest you wish for a pause the current rota process, protect existing working arrangements, and allow meaningful negotiations to take place without imposed change.
Voting against Industrial Action will suggest you wish the new rotas to be implemented.
If you do not vote, you have not had your voice heard. Unreturned ballots will not be counted as a yes or a no and therefore not impact the final outcome in any way.
Industrial action is a legal process, the steps for which we must follow closely. More information can be found here
