Clinical Decision Making – GMB Update

EMAS rolled out a new decision-making tool and communicated to staff on Wednesday meaning that you must call an SP for all refusals. We heard your concerns – and we agree. It feels insulting, and it will lead to increased response times.

GMB leads, alongside UNISON, met with EMAS today to raise those concerns directly. We made your voices heard – the way you feel undermined, the unrealistic pressure being placed on SPs, and the poor communication surrounding this entire decision.

To be clear: these changes were pushed through without any consultation with GMB. We want to reassure all staff that we categorically did not agree to any of this.

Despite today’s meeting, we remain disappointed by EMAS’s stance and do not feel the issues have been resolved. We will be escalating your concerns to EMAS executives and requesting an immediate rollback of these changes, as well as meaningful union involvement in any future decisions of this magnitude.

Clinical decision-making changes have a real impact on your day-to-day working conditions. We recognise that. We will stand up for you.
