Dear GMB@EMAS Members,
Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent survey and consultative ballot.
The message from members is clear: there is strong opposition to the issues we consulted you on. Your voice has been heard.
The ballot results show that 82.5% of voters are against the rostering principles and 87.8% of voters are against the reduction in FRV numbers.
Next Steps
As a Branch, we now need to move forward in a way that reflects your views.
We will be asking our GMB Region to support a postal ballot on the reduction in FRV output, unless EMAS change their current position. A postal ballot is legally required before any Industrial Action can take place, and we are confident we will receive regional backing.
Regarding the rota consultation, opposition to the proposed changes is clear. We will work with local representatives to review whether recent rota production has addressed any of the concerns raised, and to decide how best to continue discussions with EMAS.
Emergency Branch Meeting
GMB@EMAS representatives will attend an Emergency Branch Meeting on 18 February 2026.
Once we have gathered further feedback and clarity from that meeting, we will update members on the next steps.
Our priority is to make the right decisions for you — decisions that reflect the strength of feeling across EMAS.
Kind regards,
GMB@EMAS
