GMB EMAS Branch Announces New Leadership

Published 21st May 2026 by GMB EMAS

Following elections held at the May branch meeting, GMB EMAS has a new committee in place and a clear message for its membership: change is coming.

The following representatives have been elected into post:

  • Branch President – Sam Holland
  • Branch Secretary – Dan Roizer
  • Branch Vice-President – Simon Lidgard
  • Youth Officer – Matt Vale
  • Equalities Officer – Alex Lloyd
  • Race Officer – Ranjit Khutan

The branch would like to thank outgoing president and secretary, Ian Burton and Mark Dawn for their years of dedication and service. Their contribution to the branch is appreciated and won’t be forgotten.

A Fresh Start

New Branch Secretary Dan Roizer was keen to acknowledge the mood among members. “We know some of you feel the union hasn’t always done enough. We’ve heard that, and we’re not going to shy away from it. With new leadership comes a real opportunity for change, and we intend to take it.”

Over the coming months, members can expect to see tangible differences in how the branch operates. Transparency, visibility, and accountability are at the heart of the new committee’s approach. Members should expect to know who their reps are, what is being done on their behalf, and how the branch is fighting their corner day to day.

A Union That Works For You

Branch President Sam Holland echoed that sentiment, with both officers united in their commitment to putting members first and ensuring the branch is one that members can rely on and be proud of.

The new committee is clear that a union is only as strong as the trust between its representatives and the people they serve. Rebuilding and strengthening that trust is the priority, and work is already underway.

Get Involved

If you have a workplace issue, a concern, or simply want to know more about what your union can do for you, the branch wants to hear from you.

The branch is also actively looking for members who want to play a more active role, whether as a workplace rep or in a supporting capacity. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to make work better for the people around you. If that sounds like you, get in touch.
